Welcome to WIVACE 2015

September 23-25, 2015 - Bari, Italy

We are proud to present WIVACE 2015: the Workshop on Artificial Life and Evolutionary Computation. It was first held in 2007 in Sampieri (Ragusa), as the incorporation of two previously separately running workshops (WIVA and GSICE). After the success of the first edition, the workshop was organized in the following years in Venice (2008), Naples (2009), Parma (2012), Milan (2013), Vietri (2014) with the aim to offer a forum where different disciplines could effectively meet.

Organizing this workshop means to force the hybridization among single research ‘niches’ often too little populated to allow for creating their own event, and this can lead to surprising “crossover” and “spillover” effects.

Furthermore, events like WIVACE are usually a very nice opportunity for new-generation or soon-to-be scientists to get in touch with new subjects in a more relaxed, informal, and (last but not least) less expensive environment than in large-scale international conferences. Diversity and renovation are key requirements for species to survive and to evolve in nature as well as in science, and we hope that the many young scientists that will attend WIVACE will contribute to make the scientific communities involved in the workshop more and more lively and healthy over the years.

Come to Bari and join the workshop for fruitful and provocative scientific discussions

Topics

High-quality contributions in the area of Artificial Life and Evolutionary Computation are welcomed and they can embrace the major interests in the following fields:

  • Bioinformatics and computational biology
  • Bioinspired Algorithms,
  • Bioinspired Robotics,
  • Complex Systems,
  • Evolutionary Computation,
  • Genetic Algorithms,
  • Modeling and Simulation of Artificial and Biological Systems,
  • Modeling and Simulation of Social and Economical Systems,
  • Synthetic and Systems Biology,
  • Systems Chemistry,
  • Theories and Applications of Artificial Life.

see Call for Papers for details on the contributions submission.

Important dates

  • NEW Paper submission deadline: 31st of July 2015

  • Notification acceptance: 1st of September 2015

  • Camera ready due: 20th of September 2015

  • Early Registration: 15th of September 2015

Submission

You can participate to Wivace or Bionam meeting, though you are encouraged to participate in both.

WIVACE and Bionam accepts different types of submissions:

1.       Full research articles (maximum 12 pages) describing new methodologies, approaches, and/or applications (oral presentation).

2.       Short reports (maximum 6 pages) describing new methodologies, approaches, and/or applications (poster presentation).

3.       Simple Abstracts (maximum 2 pages) for oral or poster presentation will be accepted as well.

The submissions will be peer reviewed by at least two members of the program committee. The authors of accepted papers will have to improve their paper on the basis of the reviewers’ comments and will be asked to send a camera ready version of their manuscripts. At least one author of each accepted work has to register for the workshop and attend the workshop and present the work.

Submit your manuscript in Springer LNCS format at the submission link:

https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=wivace2015

Papers will be published in a post-conference volume on “Communications in Computer and Information Science” edited by Springer (http://www.springer.com/series/7899).

Extended versions of selected papers may be published in a special issue of a well-known journal to be defined.
